Curtains & Trimmings
A curtain is three decisions wearing one name: the cloth, what goes behind it, and how it is gathered at the top. We work through all three with you. The fabric sets the look and the fall; the lining decides how the curtain behaves, whether that is a plain cotton lining, a thermal one for a cold north-facing room, blackout for a bedroom, or an interlining sandwiched between fabric and lining to give that heavy, quietly expensive drape. The heading sets the rhythm of the folds — pinch pleat, pencil pleat, wave, eyelet, or a hand-finished goblet where a formal room calls for it. Then there are the trimmings, which are where a scheme stops looking bought and starts looking designed: a braid on the leading edge, a fan edge along a pelmet, a bullion fringe on a heavy drape, contrast piping on a tie-back. Everything is made to measurements we take in your home and fitted and dressed by us.

Designer Fabrics
The sample library is the reason most people come to Ascot rather than ordering online, and it is the part of the studio we are proudest of. Shelves of books from British and European mills: linens and linen unions, cotton prints, wool and wool blends, velvets, weaves, sheers and voiles, embroidered cloths and heavy damasks. You can take a fabric to the window and watch what the light does to it, put it against a carpet sample you have brought in, and hold the trimming you are considering right next to it. We will be straight with you about where a fabric is and is not suitable — a loose weave on a south-facing window that gets full afternoon sun, a pale linen in a room with a dog, a large repeat on a short drop where the pattern will never be seen properly. Samples go home with you; nobody expects a decision on the spot.

Blinds
Blinds do the work curtains cannot: they sit inside the reveal, they hold their shape, and they let you control daylight to the inch. We make them to measurements taken at your window rather than to a nominal size, which is what keeps the edges parallel and stops the light gaps down the sides that give a cheap blind away. Roman blinds are the ones we make most — soft folds, made up in the same designer fabrics as your curtains, interlined where you want weight or blackout-lined where you need a dark bedroom — and they are the natural choice when a window deserves a proper fabric but there is no room to stack a curtain back. Roller blinds are neater and quieter and work well in kitchens and bathrooms, or layered behind full-length curtains so you get privacy in the evening without drawing everything. We will tell you honestly which windows in a room want a blind and which want curtains; it is rarely all one or all the other.

Wallpaper Coverings
Wallpaper is the quickest way to give a room depth, texture and character — and the easiest thing in an interior to get subtly wrong, because paper is almost always chosen in isolation and then has to live with everything else. Choosing it in the same room as the fabric books solves most of that. We hold wallpaper collections alongside the textiles, so a paper can be laid next to the curtain fabric, the trimming and the upholstery cloth under the same light, and you can see immediately whether the scheme is too busy, too flat, or exactly right. Practical points matter too: a large repeat wants a wall big enough to show it, a hallway wants something that will survive being brushed past, and a textured or grasscloth paper behaves very differently from a flat print in a room with low light. We will talk all of that through before you order a single roll.

Upholstery Services
There are two good reasons to upholster rather than replace. The first is that an older frame is very often better made than a new one, so re-covering a wing chair, a sofa or a pair of dining chairs gets you a better piece of furniture than buying again would. The second is that it lets you put exactly the fabric you want on it — a damask, a velvet, a wool, a print that picks up the curtains — which is not a choice the high street offers. Either way, the frame comes first: it is stripped back, checked, and any loose joints, sagging webbing or tired springs are dealt with before your fabric goes anywhere near it. Cushion interiors, piping, buttoning and the finish at the base are all decided with you. We can also commission a new bespoke piece from scratch where nothing off the shelf fits the space, and we will advise on rub counts and cleanability so the cloth you fall for is one that will actually survive the room it is going into.

Curtain Poles, Accessories & Motorisation
What the curtain hangs from is a design decision, not an afterthought. A hand-finished metal or timber pole with the right finial can become part of the room; a discreet track that disappears into a recess can be exactly what a modern room needs; and either can be set higher and wider than the window to make the whole wall look taller and let more daylight in. We supply and fit poles, tracks, corded and hand-drawn systems, bay-window sets bent to the angles we measure on site, finials, hold-backs, tie-backs, and the brackets that make a heavy interlined pair behave. Where a window is genuinely awkward — a full-height gable, a run of glazing above a stairwell, a bay you would need a ladder to reach, or a bedroom where you would simply rather not get up — we fit quiet motorised systems, set the open and closed positions on site, and show you how to run them from a handset, a wall switch or your phone.

Interior Makeovers
Most rooms that do not quite work have been assembled one purchase at a time: the sofa chosen in one shop, the curtains in another, the paper ordered from a website two years later. An interior makeover starts at the other end. We look at the room as a whole — light, proportion, what stays and what goes — and put a single scheme together: window treatments, wallpaper or paint direction, upholstery, cushions, trimmings and accessories, all chosen against each other rather than in sequence. From there it is one plan and one team: we measure, make, and install, so nobody is waiting on anybody else and there is one number to ring. It works just as well for a single sitting room that has never felt finished as it does for a whole house after a move, and you are welcome to keep the pieces you love in the scheme — very often those are what the rest gets built around.
